Pre ordering questions

What are the steps for ordering and getting a Dish system installed?
Here's a quick list:

  • Order online or call in your order
  • Schedule your installation based on your agenda
  • Dish Network installers come to your home and install/activate your system

What if I'm not sure which programming package I want?
You can simply choose the most basic package and when our installers come to your home you can change to any other programming options.

What fees are charged at the time of ordering?
No upfront fees are charged with the new promo.

What happens if I change my mind prior to placing the order?
If you want to cancel after ordering service but before having your system installed/activated you can do so and you will get your $49 back no questions asked; after activation this fee is no longer refundable (although you do get a $49 credit on your first bill, making activation free).

Who installs my system?
Installation is provided by professional Dish Network installers and is available nationwide except in Alaska.

How do I get my equipment?
The Dish installers will bring all equipment to your home on the day of your scheduled installation.

Is Dish Network available in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico?
Yes, Dish Network is available in all 3 areas. However, programming options may slightly differ from the ones advertised on this website. In addition, a larger dish antenna is required. If you live in one of these areas please call us for more info.

How long does it take to get my satellite system installed?
It can take as little as 24 hours. Installations are scheduled every day of the week, including weekends.

Can I have a dish installed if I live in a condo/apartment?
You can if you have your own balcony. If you want to install a satellite system in a common area you might need to ask for your Landlord's permission. The FCC Federal Communications Commission has certain rules applying to dish owners: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/consumerdish.html

Post ordering questions

Why do I need to connect my receiver to a phone line?
Certain communication is done between your receiver and Dish Network. For instance this is how you order Pay Per View programming. However, connecting your receiver to a phone line does dot interfere in any way with voice communications on that line.

Parental system locks
You can prevent certain channels from being watched by children (Adult channels, certain movie channels, etc). To pick and activate your Parental locks press Menu/Locks on your remote.

Is it normal to experience signal outages during extreme weather?
This happens sometimes during very heavy rain or snow. Your signal should return back to normal once the weather conditions improve. If this doesn't happen you should call your installer. Sometimes, during heavy snow combined with windy conditions your dish antenna will get covered by snow. You can use a broom to remove it.
